Wisdom Teeth Removal in Tijuana

Oral Surgery

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Impacted third molars, removed by an oral surgeon, planned from imaging before anything is scheduled.

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out. One that has erupted fully, sits in the bite and can be cleaned is a tooth like any other, and removing it solves nothing.

The ones that do need removing are impacted, partially erupted, or pressing against the neighbouring molar — and waiting rarely makes any of those easier. Roots finish forming, bone becomes denser, and the same extraction gets more involved with each passing year.

The deciding information is where the roots sit in relation to the nerve canal and, in the upper jaw, to the sinus. That is an imaging question, answered before a date is set, and it is the reason these cases are planned rather than improvised.

The answer starts with your scan, not with a plan someone already made.

Whether you need this procedure at all is a question imaging answers, and the reasoning behind it should be visible to you. If a shorter route exists in your case, that is the one you will hear about.

Who removes your wisdom teeth

Dr. Rafael Cortés Álvarez, Director of Makeover Dental Studio, is a pioneer of guided implant surgery in Baja: in 2006 he placed the region’s first All-on-6 case using NobelGuide 3D technology, and he has worked with Nobel Biocare for the nineteen uninterrupted years since. He graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and holds a diploma from Loma Linda University. His work carries the imprint of two lineages: the direct mentorship of Professor Dr. Alan Kleiman, a pioneer in modern implant research, and the advanced protocols of Dr. Sascha Jovanovic’s continuing-education system, which he keeps refining alongside faculty from the world’s leading implant programs. That is what mentorship passes down, case by case — and it is the method behind the plan presented to you. Cédula profesional 5933630.

Wisdom teeth sit close to the nerve and the sinus, which is the reason the position is confirmed on a three-dimensional scan before the day of surgery rather than assessed on a flat X-ray.

How the case is handled

Imaging first, always

A panoramic or three-dimensional scan shows the angulation of the tooth and its relationship to the nerve and the sinus.

Surgical access

Impacted molars are reached under local anesthesia, and the tooth is sectioned when that removes less bone than lifting it whole.

Recovery managed

Swelling peaks in the first days and then settles. Written aftercare goes home with you, and follow-up can be done remotely if you have crossed back.

Do all four have to come out at once?

Not necessarily. All four in one session compresses recovery into a single episode and suits patients who are traveling; one side at a time is easier to eat through. Both are reasonable, and the choice is largely yours.

Is sedation available?

Sedation is used for surgical extractions where it is appropriate, and it is discussed at the planning appointment rather than on the day.

Frequently asked

What patients ask before they book. If yours is not here, the fastest answer is a call.

Proximity to the nerve canal is exactly why imaging comes first. When the roots sit close to it, the surgical approach is adjusted to keep distance, and that decision is made from the scan rather than during surgery.

Usually yes: the extraction is one appointment, and follow-up can be handled with photographs and a call unless something needs to be seen. Driving yourself home is not advisable if sedation was used.

Most people plan two or three quiet days, longer for fully impacted lower molars. Swelling and stiffness are the limiting factors more than pain.

If a dentist has told you these need to come out and you would like to see the reasoning, the consultation starts with the scan and what it shows about the roots.
