About Makeover Dental Studio

One studio in Zona Río, organized around specialists rather than around a single dentist covering everything.

Most dental practices ask one clinician to do a little of everything: a root canal on Tuesday, an implant on Thursday, an orthodontic case somewhere in between. It is a workable model for routine care and it reaches its limit exactly where cases stop being routine.

Makeover Dental Studio is built the other way round. Each discipline is handled by a specialist who works only within it, and the complex work that other practices refer out or improvise is done here, by the person who does that work every day. Implantology, oral rehabilitation, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and endodontics are all in the same building, which is what allows a case that needs three of them to have one plan instead of three.

That is also what the studio is for. A single location in Zona Río, five minutes from the San Ysidro crossing, where the whole treatment happens rather than being distributed across referrals. Treatment plans are written in English, the team works in English, and appointments are scheduled around your crossing rather than around the clinic day.

How the practice is organized

A specialist per discipline

Each case is handled within the discipline it belongs to, by someone who works only in it. Complex work is not fitted in between routine appointments.

One location, one plan

Everything happens in one studio in Zona Río. Cases that cross disciplines are coordinated in conversation rather than in referral letters, and one clinician owns the plan.

Diagnosis before proposal

The first appointment produces records, findings and a written plan. What it does not produce is a quotation for treatment that has not been justified yet.

What does specialized care actually change for me?

It changes what happens when your case turns out to be more complicated than it looked. A general practitioner treating a straightforward canal or a single crown will do it well. The difference appears at the edges — a canal that is calcified, an implant site with too little bone, a bite that has collapsed and needs several disciplines in sequence. Those are the cases where the outcome is decided by how often the person treating you has seen that specific situation before, and by whether the next specialist in the sequence is down the corridor rather than in another building.

Who will actually be treating me?

The specialist in the discipline your case belongs to, and you should know who that is before treatment begins rather than on the day. In a case that spans several disciplines, one clinician holds the overall plan from diagnosis through to the definitive work, so responsibility for the result never becomes distributed until it belongs to no one. If you ever cannot get a straight answer to this question at any practice, that is itself the answer.

The record we keep

Every case is documented the same way: standardized photography and imaging at the start, at key stages and at completion. For a patient who is not in the same city, that record is also how progress is reviewed between visits, which is why it is a protocol rather than a courtesy.

Frequently asked

What patients ask before they book. If yours is not here, the fastest answer is a call.

No. There is one studio, in Zona Río, and every phase of treatment happens there.

A significant part of the practice does exactly that. The studio is roughly five minutes from the San Ysidro crossing, plans are written in English, appointment times are suggested with the return wait in mind, and follow-up between visits is handled remotely so a trip is made only when there is a reason.

Records: photographs, imaging and an examination. Then findings, options and a written plan you can take away and read. Treatment does not begin on the same day unless you are in pain, in which case relieving it comes first.
