Getting the right retainer
Clear Retainers
Custom-made, transparent trays that fit comfortably over your teeth. Their discreet appearance makes them an excellent option for patients who want an almost invisible way to maintain their smile.
Fixed Retainers
A thin wire bonded behind the teeth, providing continuous retention without having to remember to put them on. They are especially useful for maintaining alignment in areas with a higher risk of relapse.
Hawley Retainers
A durable acrylic base combined with a metal wire, adjustable when necessary. They are removable, reliable, and designed for long-term use.
I stopped wearing my retainer and my teeth moved. Now what?
It depends how far they moved. Minor relapse can sometimes be caught and held; more movement may call for a short round of aligners before new retention. A scan answers it quickly — and the sooner you come, the smaller the fix tends to be.
How long do I need to wear retainers?
The honest answer nobody loves: indefinitely, on a schedule that lightens over time. Intensive wear at first, then nights, then maintenance. Teeth drift for life, and the patients whose smiles still look finished ten years later are the ones who kept the retainer in the routine.

Neither, universally. Fixed wires protect the front teeth continuously but need cleaning discipline; removables cover the whole arch but only work when worn. Many cases do best with both, and yours gets a reasoned recommendation.
Yes. Retention is about where your teeth are today, not about who moved them. A current scan is all that is needed.
Cool water and a soft brush daily; never hot water, which warps it. Bring it to your check-ups so fit and wear can be reviewed.
A new retainer feels snug for a few days. Real pain usually means the teeth have moved since the scan — which is a reason to call, not to push through.
