Orthodontics
Alignment planned around your facial structure — not just the front six teeth.
It is possible to align the teeth that show and leave the bite worse than it started. That outcome is easier to reach than it used to be, because the visible result now arrives before the functional one, and patients are understandably satisfied when it does.
Treatment at Makeover Dental Studio is planned by an orthodontist against the bite and the facial profile. How the molars meet, where the midline sits, what the profile does along the way — the teeth you see in a photograph are the last part of that plan rather than the first.
Every case ends in retention. Teeth move throughout life, and retention is what holds a finished result in place. Anyone describing the end of treatment without it is describing relapse on a delay.
How a case is planned and finished
Records before appliances
Photographs, radiographs, a scan and a bite analysis. The appliance is chosen after the diagnosis, not instead of it.
Movement with a target
Each stage has an intended position and a checkpoint. Progress is measured against the plan rather than against how the front teeth happen to look.
Retention as part of treatment
Fixed or removable retention is fitted at the end and reviewed afterwards. It is the difference between a result and a phase.
Am I too old for orthodontics?
Age is not the limiting factor; periodontal health is. Bone and gum support determine what movement is safe, and adults in good periodontal condition are treated routinely.
Aligners or braces?
Aligners suit mild to moderate crowding, spacing and relapse. Complex rotations, significant bite correction and some extraction cases are still handled better with fixed appliances, and you should be told which category you are in.
Before & After
Orthodontic records are a full set rather than a smile photograph: intraoral views, profile and radiographs at the start, at key checkpoints and at removal. The change in the bite is the part a smile photograph cannot show.
Aligners are a system, not a brand
Invisalign, Spark and ClearCorrect all move teeth with a sequence of clear trays. What differs between them is the material, how the trays are manufactured and the cost. What does not differ is the thing that decides your result: the treatment plan, meaning which teeth move, in what order, and what the bite looks like at the end.
Spark, made by Ormco, uses a scalloped edge trimmed to the gum line and a material formulated to stain less than earlier generations of aligner plastic. Ormco is also the manufacturer behind the Damon System of self-ligating braces, so a practice working with one is often working with both.
Every case ends in retention. Teeth move for life, and a retainer is what makes the result permanent, whichever system got you there. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling relapse.

It depends on how far the teeth have to move and on your consistency with wear time. An estimate is part of the plan you receive before starting, and it is revised at checkpoints rather than promised at the outset.
Appointment intervals are planned around travel, spaced further apart than a monthly schedule where the mechanics allow, with remote monitoring in between. The schedule is agreed before treatment begins.
Retention, in some form, indefinitely. Retainers are checked at follow-up appointments, and replacing a lost retainer quickly matters more than most patients expect.
Whether aligners suit your case is a question with a real answer.
What decides your treatment is the movement your teeth need — not the appliance you had in mind. If fixed braces would give you a better result, we’ll tell you honestly. And your appointments are planned around how far you’re driving to see us.

An orthodontic consultation gives you a diagnosis, the options that fit it, and a clear statement of what each one can and cannot correct. The appliance is the last decision, not the first.
